History

Highlands Country House Hotel is a beautifully restored National Monument considered to be amongst the most important Cape homes of the era.
A colonial mansion built in 1900 by Sir Herbert Baker for Judge Searle, the first Judge president of the Cape, it has hosted many famous and colourful characters of the time - Arthur Conan Doyle, Oliver Schreiner, Percy Fitzpatrick - to name a few.
Highlands, a boutique hotel, has been lovingly restored and is run as a privately owned Country House residence.
The guest house is tastefully furnished with antiques and fine fabrics and set in peaceful surroundings. Every effort has been made to enhance the marble and wooden floors, pressed ceilings, large shuttered sash windows, balustrades and fireplaces of the original.
Highlands Country House boutique hotel is a place of warm welcome and ultimate comfort. Every piece has been carefully chosen to give pleasure to the eye and rest to the body.

Directions
• Take the N2 (Settlers Way) direction - CITY
• Pass the large cooling towers on the RIGHT
• Pass the turn off to Liesbeek Parkway
• Pass the turnoff to Main Road
• Look out for the M3 - MUIZENBERG turn off
• N.B. - Do not take the M5 - Muizenberg
• Take the M3 turn off to the LEFT
• Pass 2 sets of traffic lights
• Take the Claremont exit to the LEFT - Paradise Road
• Drive around the circle, leaving the circle to travel up Newlands Road
• At the top of the hill (you will have passed 3 sets of traffic lights) - keep to the LEFT - the name changes to TENNANT ROAD
• Highlands is on the RIGHT |
