While relatively new on the International Events Calendar, The Cape Town Festival which began in 1999 has quickly become one of the city’s premier festive events.
More than 100 000 culture lovers are expected to attend this year’s three-week explosion of art, dance, theatre, music, poetry, puppetry, comedy and various other expressions by the people of Cape Town. Around 140 shows are set to appeal to the diverse audience anticipated
CEO of the festival, Yusuf Ganief, said about the 2007 Festival Programme: “… (it) is the result of a collective effort from artists, traders, crafters, events organisers, technical suppliers, volunteers and equally important, our many sponsors and venue stakeholders.”
He added, “This year we are again showcasing the talents and excellence of various cultures, both local and international, in our attempt to depict not only our uniqueness but also to highlight our common humanity through the arts.”

In order to be as inclusive as possible for ALL of Cape Town most of the events are free of charge.
