The Cape Town International Comedy Festival

Billed as ‘The Largest and Most Credible Comedy Project on the Continent’, the Cape Town International Comedy Festival is sure to be as phenomenal a success this year as it has been, increasingly, for the past 11 years.

The event showcases the incredible talents of over 150 humour-mongers and has to date included every active professional South African comedian. Quite an impressive role-call!

The widely diverse styles of the performances ensure that there really is something for everyone – from hardcore to township to wholesome family entertainment.

So Cape Town locals and visitors of every persuasion will be rolling in the aisles. Free shows are incorporated into the itinerary. This means that financial constraints need not keep the event exclusive, but instead every effort is made to make this a festival for all.

The 2007 event is scheduled for 2 – 23 September with venues at the Baxter and Artscape theatres, various township schools and the Victoria & Albert Waterfront Street and Amphitheatre.

Expect street comedy, adult comedy, Afrikaans comedy, comedy workshops and excellent comedy shows by all the main participators.
