Experience the beauty of the Winelands from a hot air balloon, drifting over the vineyards and valleys in the picturesque Berg River Valley region between Paarl and Malmesbury.

An early start is required in order to minimize exposure to strong winds that tend to pick up after sunrise – be prepared to meet at the launch site at 5 a.m.

After a pre-flight briefing during which you will be taught how to assist with the rigging and inflation (if you so wish) the launch process begins and you’ll be airborne within 30 minutes.

The climb is gentle and you will soon be well above tree top level and flying across the scenic landscape. Feel the ultimate freedom as the balloon gently bears you across the sky at a pleasant, gentle pace. You are literally at the whim of the wind so there’s no telling what direction you might end up traveling.

The pick-up vehicle follows below and after an hour’s flight (approximate) the balloon will land and you’ll be escorted back to base.

Season: NB! - Only runs between November and April. Due to the frequency of strong winds in the area up to 50% of all flights have to be cancelled.

Requirements: An average body weight per person (including clothing) is required. No children under 1.2m. No age limit on seniors as long as each individual is able to climb into the basket and stand for the duration of the flight.

Wear warm, practical clothing, sturdy shoes, sun protection (hat & cream) and bring your camera. Note that we are not insured for camera equipment however.
