Not only has it done tow tours in Vietnam and spent much time in the training of pilots at Fort Rucker, but it was stolen by a sheriff and used, without consent, during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, before being returned to its owner by a federal court order. A past as exciting as this adds even more interest to the flight for history buffs.

Today the Huey is flown by around 40 countries and is generally considered to be the most widely used helicopter in the world.
