During the whale season many tourists and locals flock out to the pretty seaside resort town of Hermanus in the Overberg region of the Cape. This town is renowned as one of the best land-based whale watching sites in the world.
The impressive and beautiful sea giants, the Southern Right Whales, come in to the Cape’s bays to calve. The site of them playing with their young, spraying fountains of water into the air, spy-hopping, breaching and waving their distinctively-shaped tails is magical and memorable.
On this day trip you will be transported the 130 km out of the CBD to Hermanus. A picnic lunch with the spectacular ocean backdrop is enjoyed, followed by a little exercise with some cycling along the meandering coastal roads. Hermanus is reported to have the cleanest and freshest air in the country, so breathe in deeply and fill your lungs with the good stuff as you enjoy the cycle.
You will be back in Cape Town by around 17h30, after a truly enjoyable day out.
