Saltwater flyfishing is a rapidly growing sport around the world, and South Africa is a great place to try your hand at this exciting activity.
Within a 3-hour radius of Cape Town there are multiple tidal estuaries exist, all offering decent saltwater flyfishing for leervis (garrick), elf (shad), grunter, kob and mullet.
Ideal for both novice anglers and the more experienced fly angler, certain estuaries can produce really large fish.
Book Cape Town offers a number of 2-4 day saltwater flyfishing clinics to some of these estuaries during the summer months.
These normally cater for 6 – 8 anglers, but day trips for single anglers can also be arranged on request. | |

Tackle: 8 – 10 weight rods, floating line, sinking line, poppers, Clousers Minnows in sizes #1 – 2/0. Whistler patterns, grunter Charlies, tiny olive woolly buggers size 16, sand flea size 12.
To Bring: Wading boots, stripping basket, hat, polarised glasses, sunblock, long-sleeved shirt, wind breaker / water proof jacket.
