Cape Town has some spectacular dive sites that offer a fantastic glimpse into the underwater world. False Bay receives the warm water from the equator that travels down the east coast of the country. In this section of water there are numerous wrecks and reefs to explore, as well as octopi, kelpfish, reef fish and even stingrays and Pajama sharks to be seen. The cold Atlantic Ocean on the other side of the peninsula conceals kelp forests, starfish, crabs and crayfish, and a few wrecks. Hidden beneath the murky waters of Table Bay there are numerous soft coral and sponges for scuba divers to discover. Because many merchant ships anchor(ed) in Table Bay, you may also come across bits of anchors, plates and bottles on the ocean floor.
