CAPE TOWN SCUBA DIVING - WRECK

Daily charters are available throughout the week. You can choose between Shore or Boat dives.

We recommend Shore Dives for your first option, especially if you are new to diving.

Morning and afternoon charters are offered. Times vary depending on the amount of dives to be done. For multiple dives it is best to start in the morning.

We take daily conditions into account when selecting the best dive sites for the day.

A large variety of dive sites can be accessed on the False Bay Coast. The best times for these waters are April to September.

Here are three examples to wet your appetite

The Wrecks of Smitswinkel Bay
Boat Dive

Close to Cape Point, in the 1970’s, scuttling two former navy frigates; the SAS Transvaal and SAS Goodhope- a diamond dredger the Rockeater and two fishing trawlers; the Princess Elizabeth and the Oratava created an artificial reef. Take a torch to marvel at the prolific and colorful corals, anemones and nudibranches.

Max Depth: 40 meters

The Clan Stuart Wreck (1914)
Shore Dive

Just off Glen Cairn Beach you’ll discover the wreck of this British turret steamer which ran aground on 21st of November 1914. The night left her literally wrecked - broken up with only the engine block visible from the surface, still visible today. A great wreck dive for beginners. The odd seal can be spotted as well as Shysharks, Zebra’s, Red Roman, Cuttlefish and octopi.

Max Depth 9 meters

The Schuilenberg (1756)
Shore Dive

This craft was wrecked 3 June 1756 during a gale storm. She had been carrying provisions from Table Bay to False Bay. While this is not a particularly scenic dive, it is rewarding due to its age.

Max Depth 10 meters
