Are you aware that there is a penguin colony right here in Cape Town’s Southern Suburbs?
A unique and beautiful setting, the stretch of coast from Foxy Beach to Boulders Beach just beyond Simon’s Town is home to a large established African Penguin colony – aka Jack Ass Penguins thanks to the donkey-like braying sounds they make.
These fascinating marine birds, so clumsy and cute on land, are streamlined and graceful when swimming. See them up close and personal on this kayak trip as they streak past and under your craft.
The tour leaves Simon’s Town Waterfront and we paddle past both the civilian and South African Navy Harbours out to Boulders Beach.
As we use double kayaks you will travel with a guide. Also, the craft are extremely stable so this is a great outing for those with little or no experience.
After a fascinating visit to the penguins we then stop at a quiet secluded beach for picnic refreshment. Those who wish to may swim and snorkel (equipment provided).
We then head back to the Simon’s Town Waterfront after a wonderful morning out.
In season there is the possibility of the added thrill of seeing whales in the bay.
