Cape Point & Table Mountain Tour
One of the “Must-Dos” for all visitors to Cape Town is a tour of the Cape Peninsula. One of the most beautiful places on the planet, few things can beat standing at the tip Africa with an entire continent behind you. Sky-high cliffs plunge into the icy aquamarine waves below, where you can see turtles, whales and dolphins in season on clear days. Combined with a visit to Table Mountain, and a great selection of other destinations along the way, this is the perfect day out in the “Fairest Cape of all”.
The Tour
The day starts with a ride in the revolving cable car to the top of the famous landmark, Table Mountain. You will enjoy spectacular 360 degree views of the city and surrounds, extending all the way out to Robben Island, site of Nelson Mandela’s incarceration.
Once you get back down the mountain we will take you on a drive that will leave you breathless – both because of the gasp-inducing views and the winding mountain road with death-defying twists and sheer cliffs of the world-renowned Chapman’s Peak Drive.
En route, enjoy the site of sparkling Camps Bay and Clifton, the white expanse of Noordhoek beach, the quaint old-world charm of Simon’s Town and the lush wineland scenery of Constantia.
We will stop along the way at the fishing harbour of Hout Bay where you can browse the Mariner’s Wharf curio shop and pick up some treasures to take home.
The high point, literally, of the drive will be a visit to the pristine Cape Point Nature Reserve. Photography enthusiasts will delight in the wealth of material with which to fill their cameras.
Nature lovers will also enjoy the stop at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens at the foot of Table Mountain. Carpets of green lawn and an abundance of indigenous flora make for a spectacular display.
Optional extras include a cruise to Seal Island, a visit to the Penguin Colony at Boulders, and lunch at a seafood restaurant on Fish Hoek beach. |
