GARDEN ROUTE TOUR

Garden Route Tour

The Garden Route is arguably the most scenic route in the country. Connecting Cape Town in the Western Cape and Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape, the route travels along the coast via Mossel Bay, Knysna and George and numerous other picturesque and interesting spots along the way.

Book Cape Town offers a Four Day Tour of the route, which incorporates many of the highlights.

The Tour

Day One

You will enjoy a wide diversity of landscapes on the first day of the tour. Leaving Cape Town and travelling inland over du Toit’s Kloof Pass, you will head along the famous Route 62 through the Robertson valley, passing through towns such as Barrydale and Calitzdorp. You will be able to note the change in landscape from the lush green of the early part of the drive into semi-arid landscape of the Little Karoo. Your first afternoon and evening will be spent exploring Oudtshoorn, the so-called “Ostrich Capital”. The accommodation is charming and quaint.

Day Two

You will be awed as you enjoy a guided tour through the magnificent Cango Caves. While still in Oudtshoorn you will also visit crocodile and ostrich farms and a cheetah sanctuary. Back on the road again, a scenic drive will bring you to Knysna with photo-stops at Dolphin Bay in Wilderness. Knysna is a pretty town set in lush surroundings. You may stroll through the village or enjoy an optional sunset cruise on the lagoon. Quality luxury hotel accommodation has been arranged.

Day Three

Spend time exploring Knysna, taking part in guided tours or other leisure activities. A visit to the Featherbed Reserve includes a ferry ride, nature hike and lunch. After a ferry cruise on the estuary we head for George and another restful night in a top hotel.

Day Four

This final morning will be spent perusing the towns and villages of Little Brak, Great Brakrivier and Mossel Bay. A visit to the Diaz and Maritime museums, packed with relics from famous explorers, is as fascinating as it is educational. Sit back and enjoy a relaxing drive back to Cape Town. This time we will pass through Clarence Hermanus and Gordon’s Bay.
