Spend a full day out on the water watching the numerous seabirds that live in the Cape and feed off the multitude of fish and sealife in the waters off our coast.

We leave the picturesque and historic Simons Town Harbour early, after a safety talk. Heading out past Cape Point we hunt down a trawling vessel – the fishing activities attract hundreds if not thousands of pelagic seabirds. You could see up to 30 species, many of which are rare and endangered.

So what seabirds can you anticipate viewing on this tour? Albatrosses with their famously huge wing spans; beautiful pintados, shearwaters, terns and skuas mill around you – watch them soar, glide, dive for fish and generally hang about for a healthy seafood diet!

And it’s not only birdlife you’ll be able to view - seals, sharks, whales and dolphins are all sighted regularly, depending on the season, making for an all-round marine extravaganza.

Duration: We begin at Simon’s Town harbour with an introduction and safety talk before the 07h00 sharp departure time for open seas. The boat usually returns at 15h00 to 16h00 hours.

To Bring: Waterproof jacket (oil skins if you have), some dry spare clothing, and a hat that won't get blown off., sunglasses, sunscreen, anti-nausea tablets (Stugeron or natural alternatives like ginger) if you are prone to seasickness (it is best to take these tablets well before we leave).
