Who goes there?

Business people with an eye for beauty, romantic couples looking for a private and secluded spot, and locals who can afford the tranquillity and opulence of the suburb all frequent Fresnaye. Although the area itself does not hold much in the way of nightlife, a minute’s walk down the steep roads will bring you to the main drag of Sea Point which is absolutely teeming with nightlife.

When to visit Fresnaye?

Fresnaye is a sheltered spot of Cape Town, making it the ideal year-round Cape Town accommodation. In summer, the sun sits high in the sky until at least eight in the evening, while winter makes the days short and dark but cosy. As with a European city (of which Cape Town resembles), much of the Fresnaye accommodation has fireplaces to cuddle up by when the winter chill sets in. Summer lasts from November until April, while winter is at its peak in July. Temperatures here do not regularly drop below 5 degrees Celsius, but in summer the mercury can peak as high as 38.

Close By Attractions

Fresnaye sits on the edge of Sea Point, overlooking the V&A Waterfront, showing the route to and from the popular mall and working harbour. Take a stroll along Sea Point’s promenade and within half an hour you’ll find your feet entering this shopping haven.

The impossibly blue Atlantic Ocean offers much in the way of entertainment – spot whales from your Fresnaye balcony, take a wind-surfing lesson around the corner at Camps Bay or further along at Bloubergstrand, build a sand castle and laugh at the penguins at Boulder’s Beach, or simply relax in the sun on one of the Cape Peninsula’s many pristine beaches.

Things to do near Fresnaye

Fresnaye is filled with architecturally unique homes and, as such, does not have much in the way of things to do or restaurants. However, a few seconds down the road is Sea Point, a recently-refurbished suburb of Cape Town. Here you can find a plethora of things to do to satisfy any need – from Thai takeaways to the promenade filled with soccer matches and jogging moms.

Restaurants and Entertainment

Only one restaurant exists in Fresnaye, the Highstead. Situated in an old home, the restaurant offers a warm and vibrant atmosphere and a suburb choice of global cuisine. Further a field is Sea Point, which teems with the vibrancy of nightlife, from restaurants and street cafes to nightclubs and street parties.

Getting around

If you want to get around in style, why not hire a car? Spend your holiday cruising around the peninsula on a Harley or a 1960’s Chevy and be sure to turn heads wherever you go. Whatever style of car you choose, make sure the handbrake is firm as Fresnaye has infamously steep roads.

Further afield

Take a day trip to the Cape Winelands and experience a true Cape Town custom – wine tasting! For the more adventurous, why not try a bungee jump from the highest bridge in the Western Cape? In less than two hours, you can be sitting with wild animals in the Aquila safari lodge, marvelling at the cheetah enclosure or the wild lions stalking their prey.

Whatever you choose to do while in Cape Town, whether for business or for leisure, this Fresnaye accommodation area will be utterly perfect to fulfil all your needs and a few of your desires!
