AIR & ROAD TRANSFERS:
The Morukuru Family reservations team will gladly assist with any road transfer or air transfer requirements you might have. Quotations on request. Please also check our special offers and packages

ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE TIMES:
Regular check in time is from 14:00 PM, regular check out time is strictly 11:00 AM. Due to the specific nature of our exclusive-use houses in Madikwe Game Reserve and De Hoop Nature Reserve we have to be strict about these times.
Early arrival or late check out is only possible when an additional night is booked.

CHILD POLICY:
Morukuru Family gladly welcomes children of all ages in all properties. We have fold away beds, baby cots, highchairs and car seats available. Our junior guests are allowed to participate in game drives, no matter their age.

TRAVEL DOCUMENTS:
Please ensure that you are in possession of a valid ID, a Visa (if applicable) and a travel and cancellation insurance policy covering - at least - injury, death, medical costs, repatriation, loss of or damage to personal belongings and cancellation costs. Families travelling with children under 18 years old should check the immigration regulations for South Africa, as additional documents may be required.

EXTRAS:
All clients shall settle their extra account prior to departure from the premises unless otherwise arranged.

SPECIAL DIETARY / MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS:
If guests have any medical problems, disabilities and/or allergies that may affect their holiday, please inform us before confirming the booking so that we can advise as to the suitability of the arrangements we provide. In any event guests must give us written details before booking. If we reasonably feel unable to accommodate the particular needs of a guest we reserve the right to decline the reservation or, if full details are not provided at the time of booking, we may need to cancel the reservation when we become aware of the situation. Normal cancellation policy will apply. We cannot be held responsible if we are not advised at the time of booking.

PAYMENT CONDITIONS:

* A non-refundable deposit of 10% - payable within 1 week after receiving the confirmation from Morukuru Family - will secure your reservation for all our properties, with the exception of Peak Season as per below.
* “PEAK SEASON” reservations at Morukuru Family Madikwe and Morukuru Family De Hoop: a non-refundable deposit of 25% - payable within 1 week after receiving the confirmation from Morukuru Family - will secure your reservation.
* The full balance of accommodation has to be paid 30 days before arrival. Bookings made less than 30 days before arrival have to be paid in full immediately. Should the total balance for the booking not have been received before guests’ arrival date, we will ask guests to pay any outstanding amounts locally on arrival.
* Morukuru Family reserves the right to automatically release reservations being held for which a deposit payment has not been received. After your booking has been confirmed, any amendments will be done subject to availability. A fee will be charged for amendments at our discretion.

CANCELLATION POLICY:

All cancellations must be made in writing. No telephonic or verbal cancellations will be accepted.
If a booking is cancelled after confirmation, the applicable deposit will be forfeited.

* For Morukuru Family Madikwe, Morukuru Family De Hoop and AtholPlace Villa the following fees will be levied:
* Cancellation within 60 days before arrival – 50% of full amount
* Cancellation within 30 days before arrival – 100% of full amount
* For “PEAK SEASON” bookings at Morukuru Family Madikwe & Morukuru Family De Hoop the following fees will be levied:
* Cancellation within 90 days before arrival – 50% of full amount
* Cancellation within 60 days before arrival – 75% of full amount
* Cancellation within 30 days before arrival – 100% of full amount

NOTE:
The booking and all services carried out with regards to the reservation will be subject to South African law and the jurisdiction of South African courts. Morukuru Family reserves the right to change rates without prior notice subject to the implementation or variation of taxes or levies by any relevant authority or by the government.

Heated pools at Morukuru Ocean House and Morukuru Beach Lodge

As from early February 2018 the pool at Morukuru Ocean House will be properly heated, thanks to the new pellet burner system. The same system is also being installed in Morukuru Beach Lodge, meaning that the swimmingpool there will also be heated. Guests will be able to enjoy the pools year round at both properties, which is a nice added selling point for Morukuru Family De Hoop.

All meals, drinks and activities are included when booking one of our exclusive-use houses.

Please note that due to the specific nature of our exclusive-use houses, we have to be strict about the check-in time (from 14:00 hrs) and check-out time (latest 11:00 hrs). We don’t have a communal space (restaurant) like ‘normal’ lodges, therefor we can’t accommodate guests that arrive early or depart late, unless an additional night is booked.

Each of the exclusive-use houses comes with its very own chef, personal butler, babysitting services (if required), private guide, tracker (in Madikwe) and your own game drive vehicle and last but not least the kind and attentive service of friendly Morukuru staff. There are also no schedules at Morukuru Family, which means that you are able to enjoy your house and the bush at your own rhythm and pace… It is the perfect place for families, friends, and couples to reconnect with one another whilst at the same time being in the setting of the incredible Big 5 Madikwe Game Reserve or the De Hoop Nature Reserve, a marine protected reserve.

Refurbishments at Morukuru Owner's House and River House

As we welcome a new year and look ahead to a new decade, we can share some exciting news with you all. Morukuru Family Madikwe is getting a whole new look! Our beloved bush property received the honour of being selected number 3 on the Top Resorts in South Africa (27th in the world) in the 2019 Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards. Such an accolade means exceptional standards must be maintained and improved upon and hence we are embarking on an exciting 3-month refurbishment journey.

Anyone who has undertaken building and interior work understands how challenging such projects are, but ultimately all the blood, sweat and tears will reveal a fresh new look and feel for Morukuru Family Madikwe - without losing any of the intrinsic values we are already so proud of. We like to think of it in terms of nature - which is at the heart of what we do. River House and Owners’ House are undergoing a metamorphosis - a process resulting in growth and differentiation.

We have chosen to collaborate with FoxBrowne Creative, who have an outstanding reputation for inspired spaces in the hospitality industry and we know they will deliver our vision which includes some new construction, improvement work and fresh interiors. We are committed to retaining the spirit of Morukuru Family which is renowned for existing elements like the natural stone cladding, the layout of the properties and the opulent (yet under-stated ) furniture; but are anticipating a more contemporary interpretation of luxury with the introduction of a new colour palette and more modern furnishing with some quirky aspects.

Our vision includes bold shapes
and patterns as well as elements of traditional Tswana Culture and the incorporation of the beauty of our beloved African Wild Dog, drawing on the patterns and shades of their natural pelts.

Guests at Owners House can look forward to a completely new elevated deck on the Marico River side, which will accommodate a lounge and dining area (both shaded by established trees ) as well as a firepit. At River House, we are embarking on an extra dining deck and a new pool, as well as a completely newly designed boma.

After 15 years of our current environment, we are bracing for an activity-filled three-months and then the final reveal...when the beautiful butterfly escapes the cocoon. We are so excited about our butterfly moment and can’t wait to introduce our fully realised vision for Morukuru Family Madikwe.

The work on both properties will begin soon and Owner's House will re-open on 15 May 2020, River House will re-open on 30 May 2020.
Their sister property Morukuru Farm House will remain open as usual and will not be affected by any of the work going on.
