Visit the luscious Winelands of the Cape in style – from the saddle of a sleek Harley-Davidson!
We leave the bustle of the city behind and ride through the heart of the world-renowned region, patchworked with fields of vineyards and other fruit plantations, to the 17th century town of Stellenbosch. This picturesque university town features white Cape Dutch era buildings along its oak-lined avenues, with historical water furrows bordering each street.
We visit one of the many famous historic wine estates where a picnic lunch is enjoyed on rolling lawns with views of mountains and vineyards in every direction.
We take a stunning ride over Hellshoogte Pass to reach the quaint, Francophile village of Franschhoek which also dates back to the 17th century and the French Huguenots enclave. Franschhoek has a special atmosphere completely different to the other wineland towns, and is famous for both its wine and cheese making.
The Franschhoek Pass winds along to the Theewaterskloof Dam. This dam is the site of one of South Africa's largest fresh water reserves and is impressive to see.
We next proceed through the Hottentots Holland Nature Reserve, then over Viljoen’s Pass where we take ‘high tea’ at the Orchard restaurant.
A spectacular descent down Sir Lowry's Pass leads us back to Cape Town. |
