Day One

We leave Cape Town and enjoy a spectacular ride to the Overberg region of the Western Cape along the scenic Strand / Gordon’s Bay / Betty’s Bay coastal road, the R44.

At Betty’s Bay you’ll get to meet a colony of African penguins. You also have the opportunity to stop at the fascinating Biosphere at Kogelberg Nature Reserve, (just before Betty's Bay) renowned for its diverse fynbos with over 1700 plant species.

We continue on to the picturesque seaside town of Hermanus – once a small fishing village, now a major tourist destination thanks to the excellent whale viewing conditions right along the cliff path, which are accessible from the town center.

From May to October (sometimes longer) Southern Right Whales come to this region to calve.  The whale crier blows his kelp horn to alert spectators whenever one of these awesome sea giants surfaces or sprays, or leaps out of the water in a gasp-inducing breach.

Day Two

Less than half an hour along the coastal road is the shark cage diving capital of the Southern Hemisphere – Gansbaai. Here, Great White Sharks – those epic creatures with such a bad image – will forever be seen through new eyes once you’ve viewed them up close from the safety of an immersed cage. They may be dangerous, but they are also magnificent and very beautiful. If you are not up to braving the cage you can still be awed by the sharks from the deck of the boat that takes you out to Shark Alley for the best shark spotting opportunity.

This incredible tour which combines the wonder of the whale and the awesomeness of the shark with a sidecar adventure along some of the most beautiful roads in the country can be undertaken in one OR two days.
