BOAT TRIPS - DAY TRIPS

Book Cape Town has a fabulous menu of hop on / hop off Day Cruises to enjoy, available every day of the week.

Why not take a ride on the waves and see the beautiful city from a unique perspective?

Here are the most popular daily cruises available, all departing from the V&A Waterfront.

One Hour Cruise – You decide whether you prefer motor or sail, and your skipper will take you out into the bay for a stunning one-hour cruise.

Robben Island Cruise – Although we do not drop anchor at the famous island, this 2-hour trip is an alternate way to see the site of Ex-President Nelson Mandela’s prison for 17 years. The cruise allows for incredible views of Robben Island as well as of the mainland.

Sunset Cruise – Enjoy an African sunset from the deck, then watch the lights come on along the mainland for a fairytale view across the bay. A glass of sparkling wine adds to the ambiance during this romantic 90-minute trip.

Whale Watching Cruise – (June to September only). Enjoy the spectacle of mother whales and their calves playing in the Cape waves. The 3 / 4 hour cruise takes you to either Hout Bay or Robbesteen, where a knowledgeable guide will teach you all about the marine environment, making this trip as much an eco-adventure as a whale viewing opportunity! Other marine life species often spotted on this trip are: seals, penguins, dolphins, sharks, sunfish and numerous marine birds.

High Speed Thrill Ride – This 90-minute ride is sure to leave you breathless! A high-speed jet boat ride across to the sparkling beaches of Clifton is a heart-racing experience that packs in a whole lot of excitement. If the idea of a boat trip sounds a little tame, this trip will have you think again!

Price: Varies from trip to trip, from R90 per adult for the One Hour Cruise to R350 per adult for the Whale Watching Trip.

Frequency: Seven days a week – departure times change through the seasons. Whale Watching only June to September.

Duration: Varies: One to Four hours
