Kite Surfing, aka Kite Boarding, is a fast-paced fun-filled action sport that involves practically soaring across open water at top speeds for the ultimate air and water combo thrill. We can organize lessons for anyone interested in learning this fast-growing water-sport which began as a crazy craze and is now a mainstream adventure activity.
The Tour
Kite surfing is not difficult to learn, contrary to popular thought. With the right tuition – as offered through Book Cape Town – you can be up and surfing in three to five lessons.
The lessons are done in small groups of four students per instructor, giving you personalized attention at all times. Lessons are run from 10am to 4pm in 2 hour slots, and are weather dependent.
They play out as follows:
Lesson 1 - Introduction to Kite Boarding
Includes Safety, Equipment Setup, understanding the wind and land based flying
Lesson 2 - Water Introduction
Includes Large kite handling, self launch and hopefully body dragging through the water.
Lesson 3 - Water Skills
Includes Advanced body dragging, water re-launch and basic board skills.
Lesson 4 - Board Basics
Includes First water starts on a board and first ride.
Lesson 5 - Supervised Riding and Tips
Includes Riding with power, change of direction and holding an edge. Intensive 1 and 2 day courses are available; please contact us for details and prices involved.
Our instructors are all I.K.O (International Kiteboarding Organization) / BKSA, RYA Powerboat and First Aid Certified. |
