Waterskiing and wakeboarding are two closely related surface water sports. The Cape offers numerous excellent locations for partaking in these fun things to do. There are several local waterskiing clubs and companies who can assist you to "find your feet in the water".
There are various techniques which are used to water-ski. One example is cable water-skiing which features an overhead cable system and an electric motor which pulls the user round the lake. This is a very safe form of waterskiing and takes place in a restricted area under skilled instructors.
Traditional waterskiing involves being towed by a motorboat. It is usual to begin learning at a speed of around 25 kph on two skis and then to progress to a single ski, with the feet placed one behind the other, at a speed of up to 55 kph.
